Why I wrote "In Defense of Facebook"

As many of you know, I write for a blog called Thrive80. This week they are celebrating the release of a book called "Unfriend Yourself." They've had a lot of blog posts recently about the dangers of social media, and how much better life would be without it.

I'll readily admit that there are problems and issues with social media. But I'd like to submit that the answer to these problems and issues is not to simply "unplug" and retreat, but it is to use these social media in a way that glorifies God.

That is why I'm glad Thrive80 asked me to write a post "In Defense of Facebook." I got to write about using Facebook for the sake of the Gospel. This is only a fraction of what I wanted to write, but time and space limited what I could say. I hope to write a follow up post soon, talking about some practical ways to use social media for good.

Check out the post, and let the website know you want to hear more from me by "liking" the post, tweeting about  it, and sharing it. This will let me keep writing about the Gospel for Thrive80.
